Hi
In order to import used fishing gear to Iceland, you must have certfication to prove that you have disinfected all your gear, including rod, wheels, waders etc.

We can expect the same for all used kayak gear
(Boat, paddle, PFD, wetsuits/drysuits etc)
But after you have imported your gear, you are ok.

I don't think there are any laws here in Iceland about disinfection of gear.
At least we the locals don't disinfect our gear when we paddle sea, lakes and rivers.

Hi kajakers,
I am new to this forum, but not new to Iceland travelling.
In June I would like to bring my own seakajak from Germany.
Is there any special rules for desinfection of the kajak before using it in Icelandic lakes and rivers?
Will I have to apply desinfetion rules, when changing from one lake to another?
Can the glacier lagoons with access to the ocean be paddled without kajak desinfection?
